Slow Recovery

Monday is coming to a close and it has been another trying day. In an attempt to give Emily some relief from the pains of surgery the doctors are trying a new pain plan. The new regiment of pain medicine and muscle relaxer does not seem to have done the trick so far but we are still hopeful. We are so thankful that Emily was able to sleep good Sunday night and her pain was manageable first thing this morning. Today's trouble started soon after our morning walk. Emily started to feel nauseous and the pain was coming back. By 2:00 P.M. her pain was so bad she couldn't get out of bed. We had a post-transplant meeting at 2:30 that we would not have made it too if it hadn't been for some strong pain medicine given right before we left. After fifteen minutes in the meeting we had to leave because Emily was nauseous and feeling faint. Soon after returning to the room, Emily was able to get some much needed sleep and seemed to feel a little better by dinner. Unfortunately her pain relief was short lived and tonight has been a constant struggle for relief. Dr. Young thinks a lot of the pain is from the new lungs settling in there new home, and he is still hopeful this new pain regiment will work with a little time. Both me and Emily hope so too.
On a more positive note we would like to share some praises. Even on bad days God is so good to show us his love. Today two friends from church came by to visit with Emily. They brought lunch, gifts and most importantly friendly conversation. They also took the time to watch Faith as Me, Emily, and Nana went to the post-transplant meeting. One of the gifts they brought was a Dora and Diego bubble blower. (Faith loves bubbles). Faith was a mess most of the day and this simple toy brought so much joy to her, and in turn to us as Faith sat calmly in mamas lap and blew bubbles for an hour this evening. God knew Emily needed that time of peace with Faith and I think it renewed her spirit to keep fighting
The Doctors are very pleased with Emily's progress and they feel everything is going very well. Thank you for all your prayers and please keep praying for pain relief for Emily and a speedy recovery. Thanks, Jason
